What you need

  • A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later)
  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later
  • 8 GB of memory
  • About 2 GB of free space
  • A microphone: built in, or a headset or dictation mic

Install

  1. Open the downloaded disk image.
  2. Drag Spokn into Applications.
  3. Open Spokn from Applications.
  4. Allow Microphone, Accessibility and Input Monitoring when asked. Spokn needs them to hear you, type into your report, and use its shortcut.

The first start

The first time Spokn opens, macOS prepares its speech models for your Mac. It takes about half a minute, once. You can start speaking straight away; the text arrives when the models are ready.

Using Windows?

Spokn for Windows is in progress. Write to us and we will tell you when it is ready.
